Job Summary
The director of communications is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies and effective messaging for internal and external audiences. Manages and provides support for a diverse portfolio of communication tools. Collaborates with district and school leadership to deliver compelling and impactful narratives that build positive connections with the district.
Annual Salary: Grade 7: $75,143.95- $105,538.99, DOE
Work Day: 8 hours
Work Year: 12 months

Job Qualifications
The following are required:
- Bachelor's degree OR four years of relevant work experience OR any equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Effective team player with excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate diplomatically and professionally with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated computer skills relevant to disseminating information; MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Google Sheets.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining high attention to detail and broad perspective.
- Experienced in communication practices and tools, including: websites, email/newsletters, social media, video, print ads, radio ads.
- Ability to work well independently and handle stressful situations effectively. Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Able to attend evening Board of Education work sessions and regular meetings and be available outside of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm hours for emergency communications.
The following are preferred:
- An additional three (3) years of experience in communications, journalism, or related fields.
- Media relations experience.
